Invest in Yourself as an Entrepreneur to Demonstrate Value

Are you focused on growing your business during these pandemic times? It’s the perfect time to grow and it’s also the perfect time to demonstrate your value to your clients. There’s a right and a wrong way to do this, however. Too many entrepreneurs rely on talking themselves up or displaying their credentials to show their clients value while others tout their years of experience as a way to justify their prices or fees.

So how do you show your clients how valuable you are to them and why they should continue working with you? The best way I’ve found is to invest in and always strive to be the best version of yourself. When you do this, you show your clients how much you value yourself which naturally makes them value you as well. While this seems like a simple concept, it’s not easy for every entrepreneur—especially if you’ve spent your entire career putting others first. If you’re finding it difficult to invest in yourself, here are a few tips to get you started.

Focus on Education

Have you adopted the mindset of a lifelong learner? I’ve found it’s one of the best things you can do for your career and for your life in general. When you understand that life is about growth and there is always more to learn, you develop a natural curiosity that becomes a powerful tool. How do you do this? By simply seeking out information. Watch videos, read as many books as you can, listen to podcasts, and attend classes and workshops. Sharpen your knowledge and skill in your industry as well as in any random topics that capture your interest. When you equate life with continual learning, you’ll become a better business owner and a better person.

Pick Up a New Hobby or Skill

Connecting with others and building a strong inner circle often means finding common ground. The more things you are interested or have experience in, the more likely you are to develop a deeper relationship with your clients. That’s why I’m always looking for new skills or hobbies to pick up. Broaden your mind by learning how to fix your car, cook a gourmet meal, or speak a different language. You never know what doors a new skill will open up for your future and, if nothing else, learning something new will keep your brain nimble and healthy. It will also demonstrate to your clients that you are well-rounded and live a full life.

Take Care of Yourself

There are a variety of common mistakes that new entrepreneurs make. One of the biggest that often gets overlooked is sacrificing emotional or physical help for the sake of building the business. It’s easy to overschedule yourself with work commitments and then take the leftover scraps for yourself, but you’re not doing yourself any favors when you operate like this. Instead, schedule your life and personal time first so you can ensure you’re being taken care of. This includes time to exercise, relax, spend time with those you love, and indulge in hobbies. Getting enough sleep, exercising, and eating right should also be top priority. When you put yourself first, you’ll have more energy and resources to take care of your clients and your business.

Get a Coach

When you work with a business coach (or a Profits Prophet as I like to call myself), you will be constantly pushed to be your very best for both yourself and your clients. Choosing the right coach is crucial, so make sure you take the time to ensure a good fit. Look for a coach who you naturally connect with, who offers numerous options for communicating, and who has experience in your industry. When you invest in a business coach, you’re investing in yourself—and your clients will see evidence of it in everything you do.

Want to show your clients how much value you’ll bring to their life? You first must demonstrate you value yourself and are willing to invest in your career and personal well-being.
